In a world where we remain dependent on our trusty electronics, it is worrying to think what would happen if there were no energy source to power them all. Natural resources are finite, so if we keep using them at our current rate, they will run out; this is where renewable energy comes in.

I remember the first time I picked up an issue of Speak! Magazine. It was the magazine’s first edition, featuring Indonesian racer Rio Haryanto on the cover. I was truly inspired by Rio’s story; this journey to the top was nit easy, yet he managed  to become a world class racer at the age of 19. The next edition had Gita Gutawa as a cover girl. Her achievements are just as impressive –she had sold more than half a million solo album before she even hit 16.

Youth leadership is a hot button issue these days, and young people are more welcome than ever on the world stage.  In fact, even the United Nations is scaling-up its commitment to put youth on the global map. You’d better believe it, because my own experiences proved it.

I was granted a slot to deliver a presentation at the 4^th Session of the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction in Geneva, Switzerland, in May,  sharing the stage with senior delegates from no fewer than 173 countries. I was representing my school SMAN 98 Jakarta, and I was  the youngest delegate to speak at the conference, which was officiated by the President of Switzerland, Ueli Maurer.
