Going With The Flow

We resident of Jakarta are all too familiar with floods. But nobody was really prepared for recent disaster that paralyzed this capital of 14 million people, affecting everyone in one way or another.
 
The media reported at least 15 people died, water levels reached up to two meters in some areas and even the  presidential palace was affected in January’s inundation.
 
As a Jakartan, I wasn’t going to sit and do nothing. On behalf of UNEP-Tunza Regional Ambassador for Indonesia, I visited one of the the temporary shelters for flood victims.
 
Everything was in short supply: food, electricity, sanitary facilities. Garbage bags were pilled high everywhere. The mood was gloomy, with confused people mourning the loss of their homes.
 
I was shocked. No words can really describe how I felt.
 
Thanks God for technology, as it allowed people to keep updated with the latest information and in touch with their loves ones. It was their glimmer of hope amid the trauma.
 

What Workshop Means To Us

In 24 February 2013,  FOSCA  with SchoolaTourRahmi   took part in a very interesting workshop about the design patterns companies like Facebook, Pinterest, and Twitter use to drive user engagement.

The place was @Amerika, a cultural center in Jakarta managed by the US Embassy.

Nir Eyal writes and Sangeet Paul is a Singapore-based venture advisor teached us the common design patterns of habit-forming product, the stages of habit formating and how to optimize for user retention and the psychology behind what drives user behavior and how to build products to cater to core human needs.

Finally, I think one of the most incredible pieces of the workshop, not only give us a new knowledge but also helped us practice our English and participated in discusion on this topic...(coz, mostly we're from a state Senior High School, have no English zone in our school).

Let's pals, listen constantly. Practice, practice and practice.... it;s make our English better :)

Journée Portes ouvertes

It was a impressive day when I learned something so interesting with my 98 Senior High School friends...
