The Joy of Love

-->
(Published  in ASK Anggi column in Speak! # 08 # February 2013)

Ask your close friends about February, and very likely their answers will be something related to love. That’s because the month is usually associated with Valentine’s Day, a special time the world celebrate the spirit of love.

Like many of you, I think love is a terrific feeling. At its best, being in loves makes us better person. You divide  your time properly between studies, family and extracurricular activities so that by the end of the week, you can spend more time with that special someone. When you’re in love, everything seems wonderful all the time.

 But when do we really know that we’re in love?

That Cambodian Girl

(Published in  ASK Anggi columnspeak! # 07 # Januari 2013)

Winning the Speaker! Competition in November 2012 is one of the most defining moments in my life. For one thing, it is a validation of my work as a young activist. For another, having the privilege of being the Speak! Magazine ambassador allows me to meet many interesting people.
Last month I met dozen Southeast Asian teenagers, who are fighting to eradicate human trafficking. They were in Jakarta to attend the MTV Exit ASEAN Youth Session, an initiative set up by MTV to combat the terrible problem of human trafficking.

Reflections

(Published in The Jakarta Post, 16 Desember 2012)
Your Rainbow
Indeed, it is with great pleasure that I present this edition of “Your Rainbow”.  Not only has Anggi Nurqonita won the Muse Award for Prose in Sonny & Zap twice. Recently, she was also selected the first Speaker ambassador in a contest held in conjunction with the launch of The Jakarta Post’s Speak! magazine for young people.

In her article this 16-year-old student traces the story of her aspirations to become a writer, and elaborates a proposal for a peer-regulated school safety program called “Schoolaturrahmi’.

Reflections
The place: Jakarta. The time: the year 2001. I distinctly remember an important event that was my first motivational experience in writing, And I was only in kindergarten!

First Assignment in Asean Youth Sesion

-->
Never before have I had so little time in which to do so much. Not long after inaugurated as the 1st Ambassador for “Speak!” Magazine, I got assignment to deliver a presentation on the International Day for the Abolition of Slavery.

It was a great time because I had a chance to meet in person with Kyle, Katy, and other representatives from MTV Exit coming from many countries.
MTV EXIT (End Exploitation and Trafficking) launched the first--ever Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Youth Sessions in Jakarta, Indonesia.

In partnership with BINUS University International, this dynamic initiative brought together 25 MTV EXIT Youth Ambassadors ages 19-‐25 from the ASEAN member states of Cambodia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.
Now having double-ambassador hats, I am fully aware of the magnitude of this position and will do my utmost to undertake the upcoming assignments.
Wish me a very good luck, as always…
